Responsibilities:
We are interested in Software Engineers who are passionate about creating complex Object Oriented Software and help us developing world class semiconductor wafer inspection and review tools. The BBP High Performance Computing (HPC) group operates in the very challenging environment of the rapidly evolving semiconductor industry. The group develops cutting edge image processing and data analytics platforms that are a key component in KLA-Tencor’s Wafer Inspection Systems. These computing systems must be designed to meet demanding and sometimes conflicting constraints on cost, performance, reliability, and stability.
 
The HPC Systems design engineer reports to the manager of the HPC Systems team. This engineer is responsible for HPC HW subsystem development for wafer inspectors’ on-tool and off-tool computing solutions.
 
The HPC design engineer is responsible to follow an effective development process:
1) Collect computational requirements from Wafer inspection applications and review with stakeholders.
2) Leveraging latest HPC technology including cloud computing and big data technologies, create an optimal HPC HW subsystem design.
3) Verify that the design meets the requirements via standalone prototype and integrated wafer inspector system testing.
4) Document the HW subsystem construction procedure to enable the design handoff to manufacturing and field service. Provide hands-on training for manufacturing and field service teams.
5) This position is a unique combination of computing HW hands-on and computing infrastructure SW engineering that is challenged to deliver cost effective and reliable HPC solutions to advance KT’s wafer inspection capabilities. The successful applicant will work with a group of talented engineers and be mentored by senior engineers to gain cutting edge HPC technology and to enhance industrial skills and experience.
 
The computing HW hand-on activities includes computing component installations, server bring-up/qualification, and troubleshooting. The computing infrastructure SW engineering includes Linux OS component selection and package, diagnostic test development, Virtual Machine golden image or Container creation, server cluster management, as well as the corresponding documentation.

Once the prototype is passing all specifications he will prepare the documentation required to transfer the design to manufacturing.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
The job requires proficiency in solid modeling preferred Pro E or Solidworks, mechanism design, FEA  and thermal analysis. It also requires knowledge of using measurement tools like accelerometers and laser interferometer to measure vibrations. Process data in Matlab or Labview as well as write Python scripts. The job requires some knowledge of servo controls, PID tunning and vibrations analysis PID tuning .

The general function of this job is to perform and/or ensure completion of all activities required to hand off a KLA-Tencor tool that meets or exceeds all criteria that was predefined by KLA-Tencor and the customer.

  2. Install Tool to meet KLA-Tencor Specs, through conformance testing according to procedures
  3. Troubleshoot complex system issues in a timely manner - using abstract thought, data analysis, 7-step problem solving methodology and other available tools - to repair/correct those issues and achieve compliance to KLA-Tencor specs and other customer requirements        
  4. Manage project escalations across customer, region, and various factory resources to meet committed customer milestones
  5. After conformance testing, meet with customer to facilitate Warranty Signoff through management of regional hand off, documentation of outstanding Warranty deliverables, and communication with customer/division
  • Achieve Cycle time/Cost targets through management of contributing factors (parts usage, cross-charges, escalation support, etc) 
  • Manage Customer Satisfaction through Pre-Activity Meeting, Routine Update Meeting, Escalation Meetings, Post-Activity Meeting, and Warranty Meeting 
  • Perform Install/Customer-focused Applications testing to approve Operational Quality of tool 
  • Document Installation Non-conformance through a remote database management system 
  • Communicate installation status through daily pass down and web-based reporting systems 
  • Provide Training in operation/maintenance of tool to Install Engineers, Region Engineers, and Customers
